The Manticore Isles are an archipelago of seven islands found within the Jade Sea, close to the territory of the Golden Empire of Yi Ti.
Geography[]
The islands are found in the eastern Jade Sea, east of Marahai and south of Leng, but east of Asshai and the Shadow Lands. Each of the islands is covered in a thick canopy of trees and plant life, and the forests sing with the sound of a hundred types of birds and thousands of kinds of insects all day and night.
The islands is perhaps most famous for the manticores that give the archipelago their name, which are found in great number throughout the undergrowth of the forests. It is said that when men first came to the island, they mistakenly thought they had discovered an island were gemstones grew from the ground and walked through the fallen leaves, only to realise their folly when they tried to harvest the riches.
Despite this, the islands are still visited frequently by those either brave or ignorant enough to see past the dangers of the fatal poison of the insects and catch them for selling across the markets and bazaars of the Known World.
