Qal is a small island found just to the east of the Jade Gates. It splits the passage way into the Jade Sea into two, and both are guarded by fortified towns on the northwestern and southeastern sides from which Qartheen galleys patrol, enacting tolls on all those which wish to pass.

Qal is an island that was once covered in a thick, vibrant rainforest, but much of it has been cut down for timber or to expose the precious ores found in the ground beneath it, facilitating the construction of the cities of Qarthak and Qalred, which are found on the north and south of the isle respectively.
Cities[]
There are two cities on the island of Qal, both of which serve as harbours for the galleys that patrol the Jade Gates, demanding tolls from any which intend to pass through to the nations of the Jade Sea.
- Qarthak - Found on the northern side of the island, the city of Qarthak has been carved directly into the side of the pale cliffs found along the northwestern coasts. This makes the settlement very challenging to siege from the sea, although few have tried. The harbour, found on the eastern side of the city, is capable of holding over a hundred ships, although it is mostly occupied by galleys and warships at any given time.
- Qalred - Involved more heavily in trade than Qarthak, the city of Qalred is often involved in trade convoys with the nearby island of Great Moraq. The ships come back to Qal, their hulls heavy with crates of spices, which are then transported further north to the city of Qarth itself.
