Selhorys is a walled town located on the eastern shore of the river Rhoyne as it approaches it delta-estuary with the Summer Sea.
It is ruled by the Triarchs of Volantis, although every day running of the city is entrusted to the Melaleos family, who are given the title Governor.
Features[]
Although large, Selhorys is still considered a town, not an independent city, and is ruled from Volantis and protected by Volantene galleys.
Alone among the major towns, Selhorys stands upon the eastern bank of the Rhoyne, and timber from the Forest of Qohor is sold in the markets of Selhorys.
Selhorys has towers, domes, and cobbled paths. The city's sandstone walls shelter shops, stalls, and storehouses along the piers. The river gate is guarded by Volantene slave soldiers with tiger stripes, while prostitutes in its brothels are also slaves. Lanterns within the city are made of coloured glass, unlike the parchment lanterns outside of the city walls.
Recent History[]
Following the death of Laerys Vaelaros during the period remembered as the Ivory War, the vassal state of Selhorys, along with Valysar and Volon Therys called out for Braavosi blood, as many within the city believed Governor Rhaemar Agnalor's claims it was a Faceless Man at the command of the Sealord Bessaro Nestoris that had assassinated the much loved Triarch.
